Analysis of contents pages

Layout
The simple layout of this contents page is effective as it easy for the reader to identify what content is on what page. The image draws attention to the main article of the magazine which is important as it is the main selling point of the magazine.
Colours

The black text on white background makes it easy to read as it stands out on the page. This is important as readers want to be able to locate what content is where easily. The overall colour scheme however I find quite boring and doesn’t appeal to me, I would prefer to see brighter, more interesting colours on a contents page but that’s just a personal preference.
Image
50 Cent is styled in a way that fans of the Hip-Hop industry know him for. It is important that the artist in the image is styled in a way that relates to the music style the readers enjoy otherwise people may be put off reading it. The shot is a simple mid shot which allows 50 Cent to take up the majority of the page.

Layout

The arrangement of the text on this contents page is creative but I think it is a bit confusing for the reader. This causes the text to have the opposite effect on the reader that the magazine producers were aiming to have. The reader becomes un interested in what the text says. I will aim to have a simple layout for my contents to appeal to the reader.
Colours
The colours on this contents page are very bland. It mostly consists of multiple shades of grey however there is one piece of red and that’s the heart being held on Kanye West’s chest. The colour arrangement used for the contents gives the magazine a subtle introduction.
Image
The image of Kanye west is the centre of attention on the page which I’m not sure is the right way to go about making a contents page. The reader should be drawn into the information the contents is designed to give to the reader. The image of Kanye Itself is styled and positioned creatively which fits his persona as an artist.
